I sat down to lunch today at a conference in Reno with a group of people I had never met. The first thing I noticed was your shirt: a cartoon Halloween(?) scene with a couple kids, one of whom had a facehugger from the 1979 film “Alien” wrapped around their head. I knew then that I would fit in just fine here.
Obviously it wasn’t just the shirt. I was already a fan of your work, and said as much as I sat down. But much more than that, it was the level of sincerity you brought to the conversation. I’ve been told a number of times that it’s easy to build strong relationships with good people in the tabletop gaming industry. But when you said that many of the people you’ve met here have started to feel like family to you, it was the first time I actually believed it.
If the goal of this site is to document our most interesting and impactful encounters, then I feel it was accomplished today. And if Jay had been here at the conference with me, he would’ve talked your ear off, since you’re one of “our” type of people – entrepreneurial creatives who feel grateful to get to do what they do for a living.
I’d like to extend a heartfelt thanks for being so humble, welcoming, and kind to one of the new kids at the lunch table!
